Chris Hoff
Systems Engineer | Audio Quality & Signal Systems
Audio Systems Engineer with 30+ years of experience designing and deploying large-scale, real-time audio systems in uncontrolled environments.
My work has supported audiences of tens of thousands per event, where system performance must be consistent, intelligible, and reliable with no margin for failure. Hundreds of thousands of people have heard my work.
Summary
I’ve spent over 30 years building and operating audio systems in environments where there is no rollback, no second pass, and no tolerance for failure. Each system must perform reliably the first time, under changing acoustic conditions and variable input quality.
My background is rooted in measurement-based analysis and real-time decision making. I use transfer function, impulse response, and system optimization techniques to evaluate signal quality and ensure consistent intelligibility across large-scale deployments.
This work translates directly to modern audio systems and AI workflows. I understand how audio behaves at the source, how systems alter it, and how those changes affect downstream processing and user experience.
I’ve also contributed to DSP plugin development focused on measurement-based optimization, and I build practical workflows using FFmpeg and automated processing pipelines.
The goal is always the same. The system should disappear. Whether it’s a live mix or an audio processing pipeline, it should not interfere with the connection between the source and the listener.
